The Sportsplex at Metuchen is excited to introduce our Youth Basketball League!
Our league is designed to provide young athletes with an exciting opportunity to develop their basketball skills while building confidence, teamwork, and friendships along the way.
Unlike traditional youth basketball leagues, our program features a lottery-style draft system where players register individually and are assigned to teams. With weekly practices, organized games, and dedicated coaching, our goal is to create a fun, competitive, and positive environment for players of all skill levels!

Season Dates: April 11 – May 30, 2027
Game Days: Sundays (April 11 – May 30); Practice Days: Thursdays (April 8 – May 27)
Season Length: 8 Weeks
Registration Fee: $150 per participant (Team T-Shirt Included!)
League Format:
8 scheduled games (30 minutes each)
8 weekly group practices
8 players per team
Individual registration with lottery-style team assignments
Refereed games and organized coaching
Maximum of 32 participants per division
Age Groups:
Rising Stars Division (6–8 Year Olds)
Our Rising Stars Division is the perfect introduction to organized basketball for young athletes looking to develop their skills while experiencing the excitement of team competition.
This division focuses on building a strong foundation in basketball fundamentals, including dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive positioning, and teamwork.
Through structured practices and weekly games, players will have the opportunity to apply these skills in a fun, encouraging, and supportive environment.
Our goal is to help each player develop confidence, learn sportsmanship, and build a lasting love for basketball!
All-Stars Division (9–11 Year Olds)
Our All-Stars Division is designed for young athletes ready to take the next step in their basketball development while experiencing a more competitive and structured league environment.
Building upon fundamental basketball skills, this division introduces players to more advanced concepts such as offensive and defensive strategies, court awareness, ball movement, and decision-making during live gameplay.
Through weekly practices and organized competition, participants will continue developing their individual abilities while learning the importance of teamwork, leadership, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Our goal is to challenge players in a positive environment while helping them build confidence and improve their overall basketball knowledge.
How Does the Draft League Work?
Our Youth Basketball Draft League uses a lottery-style team assignment system designed to create an exciting and inclusive experience for all participants.
Rather than registering as an existing team, each player registers individually for their appropriate age division.
Once registration closes, players will be assigned to teams through our lottery-style draft process. Each team will consist of approximately 8 players, with scheduled games and practices throughout the season.
No pre-formed teams are necessary! Simply register your child, and we'll take care of the rest!

For $150 per participant, your child receives:
8-week organized basketball season
8 scheduled Sunday games

Important Registration Information
Space is limited to 32 participants per division!
Registration will close once a division reaches capacity. Players must register individually, and team assignments will be announced prior to the start of the season.
Game and practice times will be communicated before the season begins.
